I think some families come to me a bit reserved not knowing what to expect for a photoshoot, especially if it’s the first time they’ve ever had professional images done (besides their wedding day). So my goal is to help them feel comfortable. I, myself, feel awkward in front of the camera. I’m more than happy to add some direction, and help families to naturally engage with each other. Because that’s what it’s all about, capturing the beauty, joy, and love among family members. It’s not about how fashionable your clothes are, or if you’re at your ideal weight/physique. It’s about capturing these fleeting, tender moments.
I’m so glad you asked! 🤗 Mini Sessions are great for both dads and kids alike. Let’s be honest, most dads are not eager to be in front of the camera, and most kiddos have short attention spans. Mini Sessions are 20 minutes long and at a specific location, in which multiple families come one after the other. So they are not as customized as full family photoshoot experiences but they offer a little taste of what a full family photoshoot experience could be like.
One of the beauties in a Mini Session is that there is also opportunity to get the same high-quality, heirloom art pieces for your home to enjoy for years to come. I know a lot of people have been taught to just care about digitals, which is totally fine, digitals are fabulous. But not if you never print them to enjoy them daily. And that’s where I come in. That is one of my specialties. I will design wall collections made of framed prints, canvases and wood prints, as well as heirloom albums that the families can pass down for generations. Many parents, moms especially, have every intention of getting their digitals printed and hung on the wall. But it never gets to be a top priority when busy raising some fabulous kiddos.
The truth is, there is benefit to printing Fine Art of your family. Looking at the joy in your lives on a daily basis, really does enhance your live. Prints have the power to help you feel unstuck on those days where you wonder if you’re doing anything right as a parent. I know I’m not the only Momma out there who is tempted to be hard on myself, wondering if I’m missing the mark here or there. Looking at a family memory or experience captured, will remind me, “Oh good, we ARE cultivating beauty and joy in this family.”
